| Student Success Initiative (SSI) |
| The Texas Student Success
Initiative (SSI), passed by the 76th Texas Legislative in 1999, requires that Grade 3
students must meet the standard on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) in
reading before they can be promoted to Grade 4. The initiative calls for specific support
components to be in place to help students. Additional promotion provisions have been
phased in over the last few years. Provisions concerning Reading and Mathematics Grade 5
were included in the 2004-05 school year. Grade 8 was added in 2006-2007. Student Success Initiative page. |
