Academic Youth Development – An Academic overview of how students can become proficient in Algebra and other areas of their studies. (Tuesday 11:00 a.m.)

Action Algebra – Rebroadcast interactive programs for students' grades 9-12. Produced by HISD Math Department (Monday – Friday 4:00 p.m., Tuesday 12:15 p.m., and Wednesday 8:30 a.m.)

ADHD Workshop – Six high school seniors, diagnosed with AD/HD, participate in a panel discussion and share specific strategies their teachers have used to help them learn and cope with the inevitable stressors that accompany teenage life. Topics include organizing, time management, memory, and focusing and sustaining attention (Friday 10:00 a.m.)

ASPIRE: Effective Teaching Practices – Accelerating Student Progress Increasing Results and Expectations. ASPIRE is an educational improvement model providing high-quality and relevant educational experiences resulting in students being college and career ready. (Friday 2:00 p.m.)

Beliefs & Visions – Discusses issues and events important to parents, students and the community (Monday 8:30 a.m., Friday 11:30 a.m. & 7:00 p.m.)

Building a Coalition for the Children of Texas: The Missing Pieces of Student Success – (Friday 12:00 noon)

Colonial Williamsburg:– Rebroadcast of electronic field trips exploring our early American heritage. Watch as they rediscover the secrets of the 18th century builders.

Clearly About Learning: Health & Physical Education – This program is focusing on HISD's CLEAR Curriculum and how it benefits learning in the classroom. (Thursday 8:00 a.m.)

Community Connections – Community Connect is a half-hour, quarterly program produced by Strategic Partnerships and it deals with the activities and efforts that HISD is doing to reach out to the business community and Houston in general to procure partners in the education of Houston's children. (Tuesday 8:00 a.m.)

Conrad Johnson Millennium Jazz Extravaganza – A 1997 program honoring long time music instructor and Jazz great. (Monday 10:00 a.m.)

Developing Writers – (Monday - Wednesday 11:00 p.m.)

Differentiated Compensation: Panel Discussion – Panelist discuss the defining characteristics of their pioneering differentiated compensation programs. (Tuesday 1:00 p.m., Sunday 12:00 noon)

Encore for Excellence – (Thursday 2:00 p.m.)

End of the Day Gourmet: Salsa; Salsa; Salsa Co-Production by Aramark Food Service & Houston Independent School District. Chef Robert Maccarone shows parents quick nutritious and creative meals for their families. – (Tuesday 2:00 p.m.)

English Composition: This series introduces basic principles and strategies for communicating in writing to a variety of audiences and improving general composition skills.

  • Workshop 6. Cultural Studies: N. Scott Momaday & Russell Leong – Betty Tillman Samb's students study the mythological themes and historical shifts of Kiowa culture through N. Scott Momaday's The Way to Rainy Mountain. Part II: Bobbi Ciriza Houtchens and her students tour Los Angeles's Chinatown with poet Russell Leong and explore the relationship between poetry and Tai Chi. Leong shares his poem "Aerogrammes" and leads the class in creating Japanese renga poems. (Monday 9:00 p.m.)
  • Workshop 7. Critical Pedagogy: Octavia E. Butler & Ruthanne Lum McCunn – In Brooklyn, New York, Cathie Wright-Lewis and her students investigate political, social, technological, and environmental issues in Octavia E. Butler's novel Parable of the Sower. Part II: In Portland, Oregon, Sandra Childs and her students discuss cultural and political issues as they relate to Ruthanne Lum McCunn's novel Thousand Pieces of Gold. Lum McCunn reads from her novel and talks with the students. (Tuesday 9:00 p.m.)

Guest Leslie Marquez discusses the importance of teaching letters and sounds in authentic contexts. KidtelligenceLocal children's theater actress Luisa Amaral Smith hosts a children's show using a variety of segments to educate and entertain children ages 5-11. The Show is in English and Spanish with various segments including a bilingual segment. This exciting new program “Kidtelligence” is produced by Instructional Media Services with the assistance of the Office of School Services, and “Sidekick”, a life-sized puppet by Greg Rhue. Mathematics in MotionA program on how one Algebra concepts was demonstrated in six different classrooms. (Monday 9:00 a.m., Wednesday 12:00 p.m.)

Name That Book K-2 – Students of all ages from HISD schools are taking part in a “battle of the books” that tests both their memory and their reading comprehension skills. They have been reading from lists of up to 45 books provided by HISD Library Services weeks ago and will compete at their various grade levels through May 7. Positively Parents – Produced by the HISD Department of Parent Engagement, the series is designed to strengthen the relationship between parents and the schools. Marybelle Perez will acquaint parents with the various avenues of involvement available throughout the year. (Tuesday 8:30 a.m)

Power for Schools – (Promotional video for a fund raising program designed to give money to schools when parents subscribe to certain donor electric companies. (Tuesday 8:55 p.m.)
