EVAAS - Focus of
Community Connections Meetings
Community Connections meetings in May will focus on further acquainting the community with EVAAS (Educational Value Added Assessment System). EVAAS is a statistical tool that provides schools a means of analyzing student growth data to inform decisions on how best to maximize each student’s academic achievement.
HISD has developed ASPIRE (which stands for Accelerating Student Progress Increasing Results and Expectations) as a framework for consolidating academic improvement efforts throughout the organization. There are four core components of the ASPIRE model: developing human capital; improving teaching and learning; informing practice; and recognizing excellence. EVAAS is the cornerstone of the informing practice component and is also used to measure and communicate our district’s focus on student achievement. At the community connections sessions we will specifically address the manner in which EVAAS data is used to help school communities plan for instruction.
Your presence at these sessions will be very important in helping you build your understanding and better communicating to other parents and community members how to access this data. These meetings will be led by the executive principals and will focus on specifics related to each feeder pattern. |
