First Place Winners - Hamilton Middle School

The Houston Independent School District Middle School One Act Play competition took place on March 1st hosted by Lanier Middle School.  With six schools participating, the contest showcased some of the district’s outstanding middle school theatre programs.  The guest judge, Houston Community College’s Harold Haynes, had a difficult decision to make when it came to distributing awards.  Only eighteen individuals can be recognized according to the University Interscholastic League rules and the competition on Saturday had seventy participants.  The overall and individual results were as follows:

1st Place - Alexander Hamilton Middle School - Her Senior Year directed by Aisha Ussery
2nd Place - Lanier Middle School - The Cave Cat directed by Melody Torno
3rd Place - The Rice School - The Golden Grotto directed by Jennifer Wood

Best Actor - Lanier Middle School - Justin Chevalier
Best Actress - Alexander Hamilton Middle School - Olivia Barton
Best Crew - Briarmeadow Charter Middle School - The Wizard of Oz directed by Kendrick Brown
