PTO/PTA Presidents' Recognition Lunch

Central Region PTA/PTO presidents were honored for their hard work and dedication this past school year at a Recognition Luncheon held on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the new HISD Food Service Support Facility.  Central Region principals, executive principals, and Ms. Paula Harris, a school board member, attended this luncheon, too.

Central Region PTA/PTO presidents meet monthly with Parent Assistance Manager, Suzanne Mihaloglou, to learn about district initiatives, best practices in parent organization leadership and to network and share ideas.  During the month of April, parent leadership teams had the hands-on opportunity to explore their school’s EVAAS data at the Central Region Office during a training session held in the regional office computer lab.

As part of the Recognition Luncheon, parents donned hair nets and toured the Food Service Support Facility. They learned about changes that the Food Services Department is making to ensure nutritional meals for students. They also heard about how the District is soliciting and collecting feedback about the new bond program.
