Creating and Using Personal Folders |
| Personal folders allow you to store e-mail messages off-line, so that they do not count against your Inbox space allocation. This prevents your mailbox from filling up and being closed. Personal folders are typically stored on your hard drive rather than on the e-mail server. Any message stored in a personal folder is visible in Outlook if you are using the computer where the personal folders are stored. Your personal folders will not be visible if you log on to e-mail on another computer, or access your e-mail using HISD's Web mail program (OWA). Anyone with an HISD e-mail account can set up personal folders. Please note: the folders that you may have created which are listed directly under the Inbox icon are not personal folders and do count toward your space allocation. |
| Instructions are provided here for setting up personal folders if you use either Outlook 98 or Outlook XP. There are also instructions on how to create a rule that will automatically make a copy of all messages from a certain person (e.g. Dr. Stroud) in a specific personal folder. |
