What
Are Curriculum Benchmark Assessments? |
| Curriculum Benchmark Assessments (CBAs)
are a complement to the Horizontal Alignment Planning Guides (HAPG) and serve to address
the alignment between the written, taught, and tested curriculum. Curriculum Benchmark
Assessments are: |
- composed of 10-15 items modeled after, but not limited to, TAKS-like items.
- developed for each six-weeks grading period in secondary and for each nine-weeks grading
period in elementary.
- curriculum-based and designed to test key HISD objectives addressed in the Horizontal
Alignment Planning Guides for the specific grading period.
- designed to be administered in one class or instructional period.
- designed to inform instruction and intervention.
|
What
Curriculum Benchmark Assessments are NOT? |
| Curriculum Benchmark Assessments (CBAs) are not: |
- a comprehensive assessment of all objectives taught during a grading period.
- regional office assessments.
- common assessments which are collaboratively developed by classroom teachers.
- commerically produced assessments.
|
| Are Curriculum
Benchmark Assessments implemented district-wide in all schools? |
For the 2007-2008 school year, all unacceptable schools (Tier
I and Tier II) will administer Curriculum Benchmark Assessments in the specified
content areas and grades.
Participation for other schools will be determined by
the regional office administration. |
Each region will develop a CBA implementation plan based on
their needs and expectations.
- Administrative Regions will be responsible for creating a regional system which
guarantees integrity and ensures participation, distribution, monitoring, and support.
Each region has assigned a CBA representative to support and facilitate CBA implementation
for the region.
- Campus Online will be used to create/scan answer documents.
