Students Selected for All-State Honor Choir

Rucker Elementary School, located in the East Region of the Houston Independent School District, has once again placed students in the Texas Choral Directors Association Elementary All-State Honor choir. Fourth graders, Jailene Diaz and Olivia Ramos will join approximately 160 students from all over the state of Texas for a three-day event to be held in San Antonio, Texas.

The convention will start on July 30^th with rehearsals lasting from 2.5 hours to 4.5 hours, and will conclude with a performance on August 1, 2008.  The chorus will be under the direction of Anne Tomlinson of the Los Angeles Children’s Choir. 

The students will be accompanied to San Antonio by their Parents and their music teacher, Mr. Rudy Villarreal. These students join a long succession of accomplished singers from this school.
