Houston ISD actively seeks out partnerships with outstanding community organizations and agencies in order to provide the best support for our teachers and students.
Houston ISD will partner with the Baylor College of Medicine’s Center for Educational Outreach to provide an innovative, systemic program to improve the teaching of elementary science in HISD.

This redesigned program builds on the foundation begun with our two year partnership with Rice University which was started in response to a need for the continuous development of highly qualified teachers of elementary science.

New Leadership for Science Lab
The Elementary Science Department is excited to have Teresa Phillips as the new Project Manager for the Science Lab. Teresa brings the expertise and experience of teaching science in urban schools. Having worked as a Science Specialist in Professional Development Services, she also brings the knowledge and training skills to work with and mentor teachers. Her curriculum development experience with the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment department will serve her well in her new role.
