The Houston ISD MTT program is 9 months in length divided into four semester courses. Students who successfully complete each course will receive documentation to take the Master Technology Teacher certification exam.

Course Descriptions

Digital Knowledge and Skills, Spring
This course will introduce the MTT candidate to the skills and concepts needed to carry out digital publishing and multimedia projects. Content areas include: graphics and animation, desktop publishing, web site design and development, and digital camera and video.

Technology-Enhanced Teaching and Learning, Summer
MTT candidates will apply the skills from the fall course, Digital Knowledge and Skills, to develop instructional units for K-12 classroom use. Topics include: ethics, diverse needs and populations, instructional design, assessment and evaluation.

Collaborating and Mentoring, Online
MTT candidates will participate in online discussions and work on team projects on the following topics: the role of the MTT on campus, teaching adult learners, diverse teacher populations, school communication strategies and issues, professional development and support, and technology integration strategies.

Practicum, Online/Participant Activities
Participants will participate in an online course on teaching adult learners and prepare for teaching a BEST (Blending Educational Strategies with Technology) course to other teachers.
